LGBT Pride Month

“It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences."
—Audre Lorde, African-American poet and civil rights activist
LGBT Pride Month is celebrated each June to remember the Stonewall Riots of 1969 that catapulted gay rights into the national spotlight. Pride is both a joyous and solemn celebration with parades and candlelight vigils in honor of the diverse people both living and dead who make up the queer community, including members of every ethnicity, race, religion, age, gender and economic status. Borrow, download or stream a movie, song, comic or book by an LGBTQIA* creator or a work featuring queer characters and share it with the people you love.
*lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and/or questioning, intersex, asexual“… love is love is love …”
—Lin Manuel Miranda, Latino lyricist and composer of Hamilton
