Library Expansion Program Update |
Gardens Branch Library:
(formerly North County Regional) |
 Gardens Branch Library closed for renovation at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2009.
The branch is scheduled for Grand Reopening on October 9, 2010 at 10 a.m.
In preparation for the branch reopening the North County Courthouse location will close on September 25, 2010 at 5 p.m.
The Gardens Library at the North County Courthouse is open at:

Suite 2501 is on the second floor past the door to the Supervisor of Elections office. A free-standing book return will be located on the southwest corner of the Courthouse property and will be accessible 24 hours a day.
Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday.
The Library will contain new and popular books, paperbacks, books on CD, DVDs for adults, young adults and children, and music CDs. Limited internet access will also be available.
People who need information/research assistance or access to a complete library collection should visit our Jupiter Branch at 705 Military Trail (744-2301) in Jupiter or our Okeechobee Boulevard Branch at 5689 Okeechobee Blvd (233-1880) in West Palm Beach.
Renovation details:

The Gardens Branch will be expanded from 24,000 square feet to 40,000 square feet.

Additional Internet and word processing computers in the adult, children, and teen areas, in addition free Wi-Fi access and library catalog computers will be available throughout the building.

Existing meeting room space will be refurbished.

New shelving to allow for more DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks.

Dedicated rooms for quiet study including a group study room.

Two-themed areas designed especially for children and teens with ample room for materials and comfortable seating.

Express check out stations will be available to allow for fast, efficient service.

Additional parking spaces.

Drive-up materials return, in addition to interior and exterior walk-up returns, and a covered walkway leading to the entrance.

Beautiful natural setting, lofty and spacious ceilings, abundance of natural lighting, and comfortable seating areas throughout the branch.

Art in Public Places incorporated into the Children’s Area entrance.

 The Main Library will be closing for renovation at 5pm on Sunday, Sep 12.

Greenacres Branch Library: |
 The Greenacres Branch closed for renovations at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010.
It is currently tentatively scheduled for reopening in November, 2010.

Renovation Details:

The branch will be painted using an updated color scheme.

Coordinated upholstery fabric, carpeting, and artwork will help create a fresh and inviting environment.

Outdated fixtures will be replaced with new shelving that has been designed especially to accommodate more audiovisual materials.

Existing seating and shelving will be refurbished and rearranged to give the locations a more open feel.

Streamlined computer stations which take up less floor space will allow for additional computer terminals.

The Circulation Desk will be reconfigured to house the express check out stations.

Glades Road Branch Library:
(formerly Southwest County Regional) |
 The Glades Road Branch is now reopened.
Renovation Details:

Increased access to computers: Additional Internet and word processing computers in the adult and children’s area. Laptop computers available in the meeting room for hands-on computer training classes.

Larger collection: new shelving to allow for more DVDs, CDs and audiobooks.

Attractive interior redesign: interior spaces will be redecorated to provide comfortable seating areas and reading tables.

Customer service enhancements: redesign of the reference and circulation desks and the addition of an several express check out stations for faster more efficient service

Royal Palm Beach Branch: |
 The Royal Palm Beach Branch re-opened on December 12, 2009.
Renovation Details:

The Royal Palm Beach Branch more than doubles the size of the previous branch, from 8,000 square feet to 20,000 square feet.

Increased access to computers: 36 Internet and word processing computers in the adult, children and teen areas, in addition library catalog computers are available throughout the building. Free wireless access is available throughout the building.

More meeting room space: three meeting rooms – a large room accommodating 72 people, a smaller conference room and a room for children’s programming.
-
More materials: new shelving allows for more DVDs, CDs and audiobooks.

Study space: more quiet space including three study rooms.
-
Space for young people: themed area designed especially for children with ample room for materials and comfortable seating.

Parking: 112 parking spaces, more than double the previous number of parking spaces.

Attractive environment: beautiful natural setting, lofty and spacious ceilings, abundance of natural lighting, and comfortable seating areas throughout the branch
