Book Deposit Collection

The Library provides free rotating collections of large print books for the residents of nursing homes, adult life care and long-term care facilities, and retirement centers.

Books-By-Mail staff will work with activity staff of the facility to select a collection of books, with a variety appropriate for the reading interests of the residents. The collection is kept for 30-90 days and exchanged for a new collection.

Bi-Folkal Kits

Bi-Folkal Kits are activity kits which center around a time or topic which have been part of most people's lives. Each Kit title begins with the word "Remembering" and each program begins with doing just that. The Kits are for senior centers, nursing homes, retirement homes, and other agencies and organizations who work with older adults.

The Kits can be presented inter-generationally and are designed to stimulate memory and encourage the sharing of ideas. This offers the older person an opportunity to share the value of their experiences, and a younger person a new perspective on history.

Each Kit contains a media presentation, music, poetry, humor, and hands-on props. Pieces of the Kit can be used individually or together.

The Kits are available for loan to institutions in the service area of the Palm Beach County Library District, or those libraries that are part of the Library Cooperative of Palm Beach County. The following Kits are available:
