Book Club in a Bag
We want to make life a little easier for your book club. We have prepared “Book Club in a Bag” kits: bags that contain 10 copies of the same book, possibly enough for all the members of your book club. Each kit also contains materials with book discussion questions and further information on the title and the author. Book Club in a Bag kits are available for adult, children and teen groups. We even have titles in large print and en español, too!

How can I order a kit for my book club?
Kits are available through the LIBRARY CATALOG. Once you have logged in to your account, you can place a hold on a “Book Club in a Bag” kit like you would any other book. Pick up your kit at the location of your choice, including the Bookmobile!
How do I know if a kit is available?
In the LIBRARY CATALOG, you will see “Available (click title for locations)”. As long as there is a number above 0, a kit is available at that moment. If you wish to reserve a kit that is not currently available, you are welcome to place a hold with the understanding that it may not be available for some time, depending on how many other book clubs have reserved the kit.
Ten copies are not enough for my group. How do I get more copies?
Some titles have more than one kit available. After placing a hold on the first kit online, please contact a staff member to place a hold on a second kit of the same title. Need even more copies? Staff can assist you in finding additional copies or at any point in the process.
How long may I keep a kit?
Kits may be borrowed for 60 days and are eligible for one renewal if no other members are waiting.
How do I return a kit?
Once your book club has met, please bring your kit, complete with 10 copies and discussion guide, to any Member Services Desk. Please do not put kits through automated book returns or in book drops.
What if I return a kit with fewer than 10 copies?
Facilitating book clubs takes a lot of coordination – we understand! While we need all 10 copies in order to lend the kit to other book clubs, please let a staff member know if any are missing. We appreciate you making every attempt to locate and return all copies.
I lost the bag. What do I do?
There is a charge for lost bags. Please make every attempt to locate and return the bag so that others may enjoy this service. If the bag is not found, please inform a staff member as soon as possible.
Are late fees assessed per copy?
No. Overdue fines are 10 cents per day for the entire kit.
